Indigo Children

Indigo children is a label given to children who are claimed to possess special, unusual and/or supernatural traits or abilities. The idea is based on New Age concepts developed in the 1970s by Nancy Ann Tappe. The concept of indigo children gained popular interest with the publication of a series of books in the late 1990s and the release of several films in the following decade. A variety of books, conferences and related materials have been created surrounding belief in the idea of indigo children and their nature and abilities. These beliefs range from their being the next stage in human evolution or possessing paranormal abilities such as telepathy to the belief that they are simply more empathic and creative than their peers.

The following are some characteristics of indigo children:

Indigo children are creative, brilliant and unconventional;
Indigos are non-conformists. They resist authority;
Some indigos are physically sensitive. Others are emotionally sensitive;
Some indigos are deeply spiritual and psychic;
Indigo children may be highly empathic;
Some indigos show signs of several food allergies, and;
As there are a lot of things going on the indigo child's head, the child may find it difficult to focus and may seem to have a short attention span.

Could You Be an Indigo Adult?
While the indigo children are said to have been born in the 1990s and later, there have been several early indigos from the 1950s, with the 1970s and 1980s seeing a big increase in their number. Indigo adults are characterized by their creativity and a consistent quest for deep spiritual knowledge.
